Bhubaneswar, Aug 8: Odisha will observe the ‘Ghare Ghare Tiranga’ campaign from August 9 to 17 as part of the Independence Day celebrations.

The government will organize rallies, cultural programmes and public participation activities across the state, informed Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj.

The campaign will be organised from the state capital to the block and panchayat levels. The state government has also made arrangements to ensure the availability of national flags across all districts.

The Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department has allocated Rs 10 lakh to each district for the successful implementation of the campaign.

A state-level ‘Tiranga Rally’ will be held in Bhubaneswar on August 9 in coordination with the Sports and Youth Services Department, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi scheduled to attend. The rally will begin at Hatiasuni Ground and proceed towards Lumbini Vihar Road. Patriotic songs, the national anthem and cultural performances will form part of the event.

Government officials, youth, members of voluntary organisations, sportspersons, students, NCC cadets and NSS volunteers, among others, will participate in the rally. Similar Tiranga rallies will be organised at the district level.

As part of the campaign, around 60 lakh national flags will be produced by women’s self-help groups under the state government’s Mission Shakti Department. The flags will be distributed across the districts to encourage citizens to hoist the Tricolour at their homes and actively participate in the campaign.

Partition Horrors Remembrance Day

A state-level Partition Horrors Remembrance Day programme will be observed on August 14 at Jayadev Bhawan in coordination with the Odisha Sahitya Akademi. Similar programmes will be organised across the districts.

The state-level event will feature a photo exhibition, screening of a short film and a drama depicting the memories and experiences of Partition. Families affected by Partition will be invited to share their experiences and will be felicitated during the programme.

A silent procession will also be held at the conclusion of the event, with guests and members of the public taking part.

Independence Day Celebrations

The state-level Independence Day celebration will be organised on August 15 in coordination with the Information and Public Relations Department.

The Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi will present a patriotic music programme titled ‘Bharatiyam’ at Rabindra Mandap. A special concert will also be organised to mark the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’.

Other attractions will include sand art, a large rangoli exhibition and a ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ booth.

From August 9 to 17, citizens will be able to take selfies with the Tricolour and upload their photographs on the Har Ghar Tiranga website to receive digital certificates. An online quiz competition will also be conducted through the MyGov portal, with school and college students being encouraged to participate.
