Bhubaneswar, July 16: Odisha is expected to receive more rains under the influence of the low-pressure area formed over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off the south Odisha coast.
Besides, a fresh low pressure area is likely to form over west central and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal around July 19.
Odisha will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall till July 21 under the influence of these two low pressure areas, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.
“The low pressure which formed on Monday triggered widespread rains in southern districts of Odisha and light to moderate rainfall/thundershowers will continue for the next two days, said director of Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Manorama Mohanty.
Many places in northern districts too experienced rainfall activity. The fresh low pressure expected to form later in the week is likely to trigger widespread rains in the state between Friday and Sunday, she added.
