Odisha: Tigress 'Zeenat' brought from Maharashtra released in 'soft enclosure' in Similipal Tiger Reserve

Baripada, Nov 15: Another tigress brought from Maharashtra was released in a 'soft enclosure' in the core area of the Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district on Friday, officials said.

The three-year-old tigress, named Zeenat, was brought from Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) in Maharashtra.

The wild animal will be kept in observation for at least one to two weeks. Later, the tigress will be released into the wild.

Happy to inform that the second tigress-Zeenat-brought from TATR in an arduous journey of fourty hrs to boost our gene pool has been released to the soft enclosure at 9.30 AM today.

Earlier, another tigress, named Jamuna, was released into the wild on November 9 after her observation period in an enclosure in the core area of STR.

The two-and-a-half-year-old Jamuna was brought from TATR also.
