Koraput, May 16: In an unfortunate incident, at least three members of a family were killed and three others sustained critical injuries after the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree in Baipariguda area of Odisha's Koraput district on Friday.
As per reports, the mishap took place when the family was en-route from Nayagarh to Malkangiri and the driver lost control over the vehicle and it crashed into a tree along National Highway 326 near Gaudguda Chhak under Baipariguda police limits in the district.
The impact of the collision was so aghast that three occupants of the car died on the spot and three others sustained critical injuries.
The injured people were quickly taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. One of them was moved to Shaheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput, and the other two are being treated at the Baipariguda Community Health Centre.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and seized the ill-fated vehicle.
An investigation has been launched into the matter to ascertain the exact cause of the accident, said the police.
