Bhubaneswar: The three-day long Odisha State (Under 9) Open & Girls Chess Championships 2025, which concluded at JRD TATA Hall of Srusti Academy of Management and Technology here on Monday. A total of 120 participants (81 in the Open category & 39 in Girls Category) from 14 districts participated in the event.
Sattwik Swain of Khurda and Advik Aditya Swain of Cuttack received the champion and runners-up titles in the Open categories. Similarly, the girls champion and runner up trophy was claimed by Aditi Moharana and Anannya Annwesha Mishra both from Khordha respectively.
This championship provided a platform for young chess talents to showcase their skills and sportsmanship. The top two finishers from the Open and Girls categories have been honoured to represent Odisha in the upcoming 38th National Under-9 Open & Girls Chess Championships 2025 to be held at Pragyanam School, Gurugram, Haryana, from 15-21 June 2025.
Padma Charan Sahoo, Dy. Secretary, Sports, Govt. of Odisha gave away the prizes as the chief guest of the closing ceremony. Among others, Debabrata Bhatta, Secretary, AOCA, Dr Anwesh Upadhyay, International Master, G.D. Mishra, Dean Placement, Srusti Academy of Management and Technology, Bikram Keshari Biswal, Founder MCF, Tournament Director, Bhabesh Mohanty, Jt. Secretary, AOCA, Santosh Kumar Mohapatra and Suresh Chandra Sahoo, Chief Arbiter were present.
