Odisha: Special summary revision of voters list-2025 begins

Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: The special summary revision of voters list-2025 has started from today. This revision process will continue for one month from 29th October to 28th November 2024. A huge walkathon and Path Utsav were organized by the Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha to create widespread public awareness. 

State Chief Electoral Officer R.S. Gopalan inaugurated it by showing the flag. Hundreds of students marched towards Ram Mandir from Mastercanteen square of the capital holding various placards. 

Students following traditional music participated in this walkathon with great enthusiasm and fervour, which showed their commitment to the process of preparation of final voter list.

 Later, a Path Utsav was held near Capital High School. Chief Electoral Officer Gopalan along with Khurda Collector Chanchal Rana, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Shatrughna Kar, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Mihir Prasad Mohanty, Tokyo Paralympics Badminton Champion Pramod Bhagat, Paralympics 2000 meter Race Winner Kamalakant Naik, transgender Sadhana Mishra, Khurda Additional District Magistrate Pratap Chandra Beura, Deputy Electoral Officer Dr. Laxmikant Sahu, Deputy Electoral Officer Padmaja Das were present in the celebration.

 Chief Electoral Officer R.S. Gopalan said that every citizen who has attained the age of 18 years must register their name in the voter list. 

“Our main objective is to strengthen democracy by creating widespread awareness among voters and 100 percent participation in elections is our motto,” said Gopalan.

Chanchal Rana, District Collector of Khurda, expressed the opinion that democracy and elections are like two sides of the same coin and one is not possible without the other.

Pramod Bhagat said that it is really commendable to enroll more and more new voters (18-19 years) during this special short revision program of voter list.

Kamalakanta Nayak expressed that the country's democracy can be strengthened if the voters of the state and the country are aware and vote fearlessly without any bias.

 Transgender Sadhana Mishra said that there is no doubt that the number of voters, especially women and youth voters, will increase in the state due to proper guidance and awareness programs by the state Chief Electoral Officer.

Khurda Deputy Collector Ananya Prusty organized a quiz competition related to the elections of our country. 

Additional District Magistrate Pratap Chandra Beura gave away prizes to the students who answered the questions correctly. A folk drama was performed on this occasion. The students participated in the Rangoli competition and were awarded.
