Bhubaneswar, August 2: The Commissionerate Police has made elaborate security and traffic arrangements in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for President Droupadi Murmu's visit to Odisha from August 3 to 5. Around 40 platoons of police and nearly 150 senior officers have been deployed in the twin cities for the President’s visit.

The President is scheduled to inaugurate Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj University at Damapada in Cuttack on August 3, for which special traffic preparedness and routes have been charted out.

The security measures include extensive deployment of police personnel, specialised units and plainclothes officers, along with traffic management arrangements across the locations the President is scheduled to visit.

Speaking about the security arrangements, Commissioner of Police S Devadutta Singh said that the President will attend programmes in areas under the jurisdiction of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police as well as at other locations across the state.

"The President will be on an official visit to Odisha from 3 to 5 August. During the visit, the President will attend programmes within the jurisdiction of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police, as well as at other locations across the state," Singh said.

He said comprehensive arrangements have been made to ensure the President's safe movement during the visit.

"Comprehensive security, traffic management, and logistical arrangements have been made to ensure the President's safe movement. Around 40 platoons of police, nearly 150 officers, and specialised security units, including the Special Tactical Unit (STU), Special Technical Group (STG) and plainclothes personnel, will be deployed," the Police Commissioner said.

To facilitate the President's movement on August 3, police have imposed traffic restrictions from 3.50 PM to 4.50 PM and again from 5.50 PM to 6.50 PM on Nandankanan Zoological Park-Barang-Barang Office Chowk-Godi Sahi-Bharat Masala Chowk-CISF Munduli-Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj University route.

No vehicular movement will be allowed on these or connecting roads during the specified period.

On August 4, the President is scheduled to travel by train from Bhubaneswar railway station to Berhampur. During her Ganjam visit, she will offer prayers at Maa Kandhuni Devi shrine at Taptapani hot spring under Sanakhemundi block.
