Bhubaneswar, Nov 17: Odisha school students will conduct research on nutrition-rich millet cultivation.
The Odisha Millet Mission will provide a 50-page work book to interested students to conduct research on millet cultivation and history of their respective villages by interacting with elder persons regarding traditional farming and use of the grain and note down it in the work book.
Besides, they will also know the different recipes of millet from their grandmothers.
This has been introduced as a pilot project in 43 schools in three blocks in the state. The selected three blocks are Paikamal of Baragarh district, Kishore Nagar of Angul district and Chitrakonda of Malkangiri district. Later, it will be implemented in all districts of the state, said an official of Village History Study Team.
The project is aimed to be implemented in 400 schools across the state by November 10, 2024, International Millet Day.
The students have been advised to coduct the research work during their leisure time holidays. The students taking part in the project have been selected as Millet Ambassador. They will work to revive the indigenous grains of their area.
