Bhubaneswar, September 3: A Puri court has sentenced Sangram Baliarsingh to 10 years in jail for abducting a 15-year-old girl and forcing her into prostitution.
The Additional Sessions Judge, Puri, also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. Failure to pay the fine will invite an additional month in prison.
According to case records, Baliarsingh abducted the girl in January 2014 after offering her a lift and took her to Bhubaneswar, where she was allegedly forced into prostitution. The girl later escaped, contacted her parents and was rescued by police.
The court convicted Baliarsingh after examining witnesses and evidence presented during the trial, saidPublic Prosecutor.
