Bhubaneswar, May 26: In response to the growing threat of cybercrime, the Odisha Police has unveiled a comprehensive strategy to enhance its cybercrime-fighting capabilities. As part of this initiative, a state-of-the-art Cyber Crime Command Center will soon be established in the state.
According to Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania, the state currently has 14 cyber police stations, and plans are underway to open 20 more across Odisha. Each of these stations will be equipped with a six-member team of specialists, comprising two IT experts, two financial analysts, and two legal advisors with expertise in cyber law.
To prepare for this expansion, a four-day workshop is being held for officers from the existing 14 cyber police stations. Renowned cyber security expert Dr. Rakshit Tandon is leading the training sessions, offering crucial insights and strategies to tackle cybercrimes more effectively.
DGP Khurania noted that cybercriminals have become increasingly aggressive, posing significant challenges to law enforcement. However, he emphasized that the Crime Branch’s cyber division is fully equipped and ready to counter these threats as part of the newly devised strategic framework.
