Bhubaneswar: Host Odisha, Bihar and Maharashtra girls teams dominated the inaugural day, by entering the semifinals of the two-day long Khelo India Ashmita National Rugby 7’s women’s Championship, which inaugurated at Kalinga Stadium here on Saturday. Top eight teams of the country participated in the sub junior, junior and senior women’s categories.  

 

In the league round matches, Odisha Sub-junior U-15 girls team edged out Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka by 19-05, 31-7 and 47-0 respectively. Similarly, the Odisha U-18 girls team defeated Maharashtra, West Bengal and Kerala by 24-0,57-0 and 35-0 respectively and the Odisha Senior Women’s team edged out Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Karnataka by 24-0,33-0 and 45-0 respectively.

 

The Odisha, Bihar and Maharashtra teams entered the semifinals in all three categories. Odisha sub-junior, junior and senior teams will face Rajasthan sub-junior, Rajasthan junior and West Bengal senior teams respectively.

 

Similarly, Bihar Sub junior, junior and senior teams will meet Maharashtra sub-junior, junior and senior teams in the semifinals.
