Bhubaneswar, Sep 11: In a major step towards digital and citizen-centric policing, the Odisha Police has introduced 14 police-citizen services through the ‘Ama Sathi’ Unified WhatsApp Bot, enabling people to access essential police services from the comfort of their homes without having to visit a police station.
The initiative is aimed at making police services simpler, faster, more transparent, accessible and citizen-friendly. Director General of Police (DGP) Vinaytosh Mishra formally launched the services at the DGP Camp Office in Bhubaneswar today.
The ‘Ama Sathi’ WhatsApp Bot was initially launched by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on December 25, 2025, on the occasion of Good Governance Day, as part of the state government’s broader digital governance initiative. The platform is designed to bring various government services closer to citizens through WhatsApp.
The unified platform has been developed through collaboration among the Odisha government’s Centre for Modernizing Government Initiative (CMGI), State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), Odisha Police and Meta India (WhatsApp).
As part of the state’s citizen-centric digital governance programme, 14 police-citizen services under the Home Department’s unified Odisha Right to Public Services Act (ORTPSA) platform have now been integrated with ‘Ama Sathi’. The SCRB and Odisha Police have completed the necessary technical integration to facilitate these services.
