Odisha: One killed, five critical as passenger bus crashes into stationary truck in Kalahandi

Kalahandi, June 5: In a tragic incident, at least one person was killed and five others sustained critical injuries after a passenger bus crashed into a stationary truck in Kokasara area of Odisha’s Kalahandi district in the early hours of Thursday.

The identity of the deceased passenger is yet to be ascertained.

As per reports, the mishap took place on National Highway 26 near Charbahal village under Kokasara police limits when a private bus named ‘Raghunath’ was on its way to Umerkote in Nabarangpur district from Bhubaneswar. The driver of the ill-fated vehicle lost control over the wheels and crashed into a truck parked on the roadside.

The front portion of the bus was badly damaged in the crash, and several passengers got trapped inside. People living nearby and firefighters from Kokasara quickly came to help and rescued the injured.

The victims were taken to the Junagarh Community Health Centre (CHC). Unfortunately, one passenger died from his injuries, and five others are in serious condition.

Further investigation into the matter was underway.
