Binka/Subarnapur, Sept 6: Tension prevailed on the Sonepur-Binika Main Road near Binika in Odisha’s Subarnapur district after a SUV car without a registration number carrying ganja was found engulfed in flames this morning.

According to eyewitnesses, the car's front tire had burst earlier following which the driver to stop and replace it. Meanwhile, another Innova vehicle, which had been traveling ahead, reportedly returned to the spot. The driver of the Innova allegedly poured petrol on the stranded SUV and set it on fire using a matchstick before fleeing the scene towards Rampur.

After being alerted by local residents, fire service personnel along with Binika police arrived at the spot and doused the flames.

Thereafter, the cops conducted a thorough inspection of the car and discovered ganja, which also caught fire during the blaze.

An investigation has been launched into the incident and efforts are underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding it, said the police.
