Bhubaneswar, May 6: A tense rescue operation in Nayagarh concluded successfully on Wednesday as firefighters freed Shiba Pradhan, a young boy trapped in a narrow stone groove.
Shiba, a resident of Kanipada village, had been stuck for more than seven hours before residents noticed him and immediately alerted the Fire Services. The operation drew senior fire officials from Bhubaneswar, who closely monitored the rescue.
Two specialized fire teams from Odagaon and Nayagarh were deployed to the site. According to officials, the boy’s head was wedged tightly in a stone groove, making the rescue a delicate and technically challenging task.
To ensure his safety, rescue personnel used hydraulic jacks to carefully lift and reposition the heavy stones in a controlled manner. A dedicated control room was also set up in Nayagarh to oversee the operation and coordinate efforts.
Throughout the rescue, authorities maintained constant communication with Shiba, who remained stable and responsive. Rescuers kept him engaged and reassured, helping to keep him calm during the lengthy procedure.
The successful operation underscores the skill, coordination, and patience of the local fire teams in handling high-risk rescues.
