Odisha: Man, five-yr-old son die of snake bite in Mayurbhanj

Baripada, June 26: In a tragic incident, a man and his five-year-old son died after a venomous snake bit them in Kohira Panchayat of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

The deceased have been identified as Harekrushna Mukhi (45), working as a sweeper at Baghda Hospital in Suliapada block, and his 5-year-old son Kishan Mukhi.

As per reports, the father-son duo were asleep in their quarters at Pratap Chandrapur village under Kohira Panchayat when a venomous snake. Harekrushna was unaware of the snake bite he had suffered and later fell ill while taking his son to the hospital.

Despite treatment, both Harekrushna and his son, Kishan, tragically passed away during treatment.

Upon getting the information, Suliapada police arrived at the hospital and seized their bodies. Subsequently, they were sent for post-mortem examination.

A case of unnatural death has been registered and further investigation into the matter is underway, said the police.
