Balasore, Sept 19: In a gruesome incident, a woman was brutally beheaded by her husband in Raibania locality of Odisha’s Balasore district late last night.

The deceased has been identified as Jayanti Patra and the incident has been reported from Kachuapada village under Raibania police limits.

As per reports, a heated argument ensued between the accused, identified as Chandra Mohan Patra, and his wife Jayanti over some issue. The situation soon escalated and took a violent turn when Chandra, in fit of rage, attacked Jayanti with a sharp-edged weapon and chopped off her head leading to her death on the spot.

After committing the heinous crime, he fled from the spot.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.

A probe has been initiated into the matter and manhunt is underway to nab the absconding culprit, said the police.
