Odisha leaders call for peace and compassion on Good Friday

Bhubaneswar, Apr 18: On the occasion of Good Friday, Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi called on people to embrace the values of sacrifice, compassion, and selfless service.

Good Friday marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, a day observed by Christians around the world as a time for reflection and reverence.

In a message shared on X, Chief Minister Majhi said, "Let us honour the values of sacrifice, compassion, and selfless service. May the day inspire us to uphold peace, empathy, and humanity."

Governor Kambhampati, in his message, expressed solidarity with the Christian community, saying, "I, along with Christian sisters and brothers of the state, participate in the observance of Good Friday with a resolve to move forward on the path of love, compassion, and sacrifice shown by Lord Jesus."

Leader of the Opposition, Naveen Patnaik, also conveyed his wishes on the occasion. In a post on X, he stated, "May the solemn occasion of #GoodFriday fill our lives with love, compassion, and forgiveness. May the day of sacrifice guide us on the path of peace, harmony, and kindness."

Across Odisha, churches held special services to commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus at Calvary. Devotees gathered in large numbers at various churches to worship and reflect on the profound sacrifice made by Christ.
