Bargarh (Odisha), Aug 27: Keonjhar women continue to prevail over their opponents with massive wins in the ongoing Senior Women's Inter District Football Championship for PC Behera Trophy 2024, here.
In their latest heroics, Keonjhar humbled Puri by 7-0 margin. The winners dominated the entire match. Puri looked completely out of place against their formidable opponents, who played organised and attacking soccer.
In the one sided affair on Monday, seasoned Kuni Munda proved her class by netting five goals, the highest so far in a single match by a player in the tournament. She scored three goals in the first half and two in the second.
Kuni scored in the 6th, 21st, 35th, 69th and 83rd minutes. Kunti Bhumia too joined the party by scoring her solitary individual goal in the 12th minute. Tarini Naik also featured in the goal-scorers' list with netting a goal in the 12th minute of the first half.
In another match on Day 4 of the tournament, Jharsuguda won the battle of equals with a single goal margin.
For Jharsuguda, Sneha Tirkey scored the all important goal of the match in 8th minute in first half. Both sides though made several attempts, but there was no further change in the score line, which remained 1-0.
The match between Jagatsinghpur and Odisha Police was very well contested. After the match ended without any goal in the stipulated 90 minutes of play, it was decided in penalty shootout. Jagatsinghpur managed to win the seesaw battle with a 1-0 margin. Sonali Sabar was the lone scorer of the game.
Neighbouring coastal districts Kendrpara and Jajpur were locked in an interesting battle. But with Rukmani Murmu scoring a brace in 10th and 71st minutes and Shikha Malik scoring in the final moments of the match (89th minute), Kendrapara had the last laugh with a 3-0 result in their favour.
