Odisha honours Sprinter Srabani Nanda for Silver Medal win at Asian Athletics Championship 2025

Bhubaneswar, June 12: Odia sprinter Srabani Nanda, a key member of India’s women’s 4×100 metre relay team that won silver at the Asian Athletics Championship 2025, was honoured today by the Odisha Sports and Youth Services Department for her outstanding international performance.

 

In a celebratory event held in Bhubaneswar, Srabani was felicitated with a cash prize of ₹2.5 lakh. The event was attended by Sports and Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, who personally congratulated the athlete and praised her dedication and achievements.

 

“Srabani’s success is not just her personal victory but a moment of immense pride for all of Odisha. She is a true inspiration, especially for young girls across the state who aspire to make their mark in sports,” said the Minister during the event.

 

The Indian women’s 4×100 metre relay team’s silver medal finish was one of the standout moments of the 2025 championship, earning national acclaim. Srabani’s crucial role in the team’s performance further solidified her position as a leading figure in Indian athletics.

 

Also present at the felicitation were senior officials from the department, including Director of Sports and Youth Services Deepankar Mahapatra and Additional Secretary Bijay Kumar Swain. They praised Srabani for her perseverance and extended best wishes for her continued success in future competitions.
