Kendrapara, August 8: Kendrapara district education officer (DEO) suspended a high school teacher on Wednesday for allegedly molesting a 12-year-old class VI girl student.
The action was taken following investigation report submitted by Rajnagar block education officer (BEO) on an allegation received last week that the accused teacher had molested a girl student.
“We investigated the matter at the school and it was confirmed that the teacher molested the girl last week, following which the DEO has placed him under suspension,” said Rajnagar BEO Chittaranjan Sahoo.
However, the victim’s parents have not filed any police complaint against the teacher. “It is up to the victim or her parents to register an FIR against the accused teacher. We annot take suo motu action in all cases without any complaint,” said Rajnagar IIC Ajay Kumar Jena.
The mother of the victim said her daughter was reluctant to go to school. When she asked the reason, the minor girl narrated her ordeal. She revealed before her mother that the teacher took her to a room and molested her.
