Bhubaneswar, September 3: The Odisha government has set September 20 as the deadline to finish repair works on major roads across cities and towns, ensuring smoother travel before the festive rush of Durga Puja.
Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Wednesday announced that a high-level review meeting will be held on September 6. The meeting will bring together MLAs from Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, Mayors, civic body Commissioners, and senior Works Department officials to finalise a detailed action plan.
Priority will be given to repairing damaged stretches, addressing water-logging issues, and upgrading high-traffic corridors. The government aims to coordinate closely with contractors and urban bodies to avoid delays and complete the works on time.
The roadmap to be finalised during the meeting will serve as a blueprint for execution across key roads and junctions. Officials said the initiative responds to strong public demand for better road conditions during high-footfall festivals such as Durga Puja and Lakshmi Puja.
