Bhubaneswar, May 3: The Odisha government is intensifying efforts on sustainable water resource management and Command Area Development.
At a high-level meeting on Saturday, chaired by Development Commissioner Anu Garg, officials reviewed an independent evaluation of irrigation schemes from 2021–24.
The study, covering six sample divisions, showed major gains: irrigated land rose from 44% to 89%, irrigation potential used doubled, paddy yields increased by 18%, and farmer income rose 84%.
It also highlighted enhanced farmer participation and socio-economic upliftment through Pani Panchayats.
Ms. Garg praised the progress and stressed timely execution, tech-driven monitoring, and stronger water governance.
