Bhubaneswar, October 1: The Odisha government has intensified preparations for repairing roads and bridges damaged during the monsoon, with Public Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan directing officials to undertake immediate restoration work.
The condition of roads and ongoing repair works were reviewed at a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan. The meeting focused on damage caused by heavy rainfall, floods and landslides across the state.
Road conditions in areas including Nakhara-Niali, Adaspur-Jagatsinghpur and Kalinga Ghati were reviewed. Roads in Koraput, Bhadrak, Balasore, Cuttack, Ganjam, Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Paradip also came under discussion.
Harichandan directed officials to ensure regular inspections and warned that negligence in road repair work would not be tolerated. Engineers at all levels, from the Engineer-in-Chief to Junior Engineers, were asked to monitor roads under their jurisdictions.
Officials have also been instructed to submit road condition reports every 15 days to ensure timely repairs.
The meeting further discussed measures to make the tendering process more transparent and efficient so that repair works can be completed without delay.
