Bhubaneswar, Dec 30: The Odisha government has extended the deadline for assessing crop damage caused by unseasonal rains by an additional day, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Sunday.
The application period for farmers to claim compensation for their damaged crops has also been extended until December 31, instead of the previously set date of December 30.
During a press conference, following a visit to areas affected by the unseasonal rainfall, Majhi stated, "Numerous farmers have been severely impacted by the unseasonal rains. The damage is substantial, and it has devastated many farmers. To ensure they have enough time to submit claims, we have decided to extend the deadline."
The extension is aimed at providing affected farmers with more time to complete their applications for crop damage compensation.
