The government has set a bold target of creating 1.5 lakh government jobs over a five-year period.

The announcement was made during a large-scale recruitment event held at the OUAT Agriculture Education Auditorium in Bhubaneswar, where 964 new appointments were handed out across five key departments—Works, Water Resources, Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Housing & Urban Development, and Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare.

“This is not just a recruitment drive; it’s a historic achievement,” said CM Majhi.

“In one year alone, we have provided employment to 73,346 youths—28,346 in government jobs and 45,000 in the private sector. Our mission is clear: empower Odisha’s youth, and in doing so, transform the future of our state.”

The Chief Minister stressed that youth are the true drivers of Odisha’s development and that the government is prioritizing their energy and capabilities for both state progress and social welfare.

To achieve the 1.5 lakh government job target:

  • 65,000 positions will be filled in the first two years.

  • 28,346 posts have already been filled since the new government took office.

  • The government is on track to exceed 65,000 appointments by June 2026.

The government is not limiting its focus to public sector jobs. Through the Utkarsh Odisha 2025 initiative, Odisha is rapidly industrializing and attracting major investments:

  • ₹17 lakh crore worth of investments secured across 16 sectors.

  • 12.9 lakh employment opportunities projected from these investments.

  • In just five months, 56 industrial projects have been launched or initiated, ensuring 1.10 lakh confirmed jobs.

In his address to the new recruits, CM Majhi reminded them that government service is a responsibility, not a privilege.

“Always see yourself as a servant of the people. Every decision and action you take should benefit the public. Work with dedication to meet their expectations and solve their problems,” he said.

He also acknowledged that recruitment processes had slowed in previous years, but reaffirmed that his government is committed to speeding up appointments and maximizing employment opportunities for Odisha’s youth.
