Bhubaneswar, Jan 22: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced an increase in the monthly allowance for Gram Rakshis working in rural areas of the state.

As per the decision, Gram Rakshis will now receive a monthly allowance of ₹2,500 instead of the existing ₹1,800.

This decision has been taken in recognition of the important services rendered by Gram Rakshis in maintaining law and order in rural regions. The enhanced allowance is expected to provide financial relief and motivation to those engaged in grassroots-level security duties.

Along with the allowance hike, a new system has been introduced under which Gram Rakshis will be required to mark their attendance once a week at the police station under whose jurisdiction they are working.

This step aims to strengthen coordination between the Gram Rakshis and the local police administration.

It is noteworthy that Gram Rakshis play a crucial role in maintaining peace, assisting in crime prevention, and identifying offenders in rural areas.
