Bhubaneswar, August 24: The Berhampur -Badabazar Police have arrested four additional suspects in connection with the armed robbery and shooting incident targeting a diamond trader in Berhampur’s Sastri Nagar.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mustakim Khan, Jalaluddin Khan, and Sheikh Afran from Khordha, along with Akhil Ranjan Mohanty of Berhampur. This brings the total number of arrests in the case to eight.
During the operation, authorities seized a pistol, two magazines, and four live rounds of ammunition from the accused.
It is said that the gang had earlier attacked traders Balakrishna Achari and Sunil Sahu, fleeing with diamonds valued at approximately ₹3.9 lakh. In the initial phase of the probe, three suspects and one associate had already been apprehended.
Efforts are ongoing to recover the stolen diamonds, and the investigation remains active, officials said.
