Koraput, July 20: In a horrific incident, at least four people were killed and several others sustained injuries after two cars collided head-on on National Highway 26 near Sunabeda Traffic Circle in Odisha’s Koraput district late last night.
As per reports, the mishap took place around 11:30 pm when one car was travelling from Koraput to Damanjodi and the other from Similiguda to Sunabeda.
The collision occurred when a motorbike unexpectedly swerved between two oncoming vehicles, causing them to crash into each other. The force of the impact was so powerful that one of the vehicles flipped over, landing with its wheels facing upwards, while the other was left severely damaged.
Out of the four people traveling in one of the vehicles, one died on the spot, and two others passed away from their injuries while undergoing treatment at hospital today morning. The fourth person was critically injured and has been shifted to a private hospital for better treatment.
The driver of the other vehicle also died in the accident, while the other passengers were injured and have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and took stock of the mishap. The cops also seized the bodies of the deceased person and sent them for post-mortem.
Further investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the collision is underway, said the police.
