Balangir, Sept 10: The body of an elderly-woman was recovered from the toilet of a disabled compartment of the Visakhapatnam-Raipur passenger train at Kantabanjhi railway station in Odisha’s Balangir district.

The identity of the deceased woman is yet to be ascertained.

As per reports, the train, en route from Visakhapatnam to Raipur, was halted at Kantabanjhi when some passengers noticed a woman lying unconscious in the toilet. The passengers immediately informed the guard, who then alerted the railway police.

Upon getting the information, the railway police arrived at the scene with a doctor. The doctor examined the woman and declared her dead.

Preliminary observations suggested the woman appeared to be elderly and possibly suffering from an age-related illness.

The deceased woman’s body was taken to the Kantabanjhi hospital for post-mortem.

The GRP, along with the Railway Protection Force (RPF), are working together to determine the cause of death.
