Jajpur, May 4: In an unfortunate incident, an elderly couple and their 14-year-old grandson were killed after the tractor they were travelling in overturned in Balichandrapur locality of Odisha’s Jajpur district last night.
The deceased have been identified as Benga Dalai (55), her husband Utsav Dalai (60), and their grandson Duryodhan Dalai (14). Two others, including the driver, sustained grievous injuries in the mishap and are reportedly in critical condition.
As per reports, five individuals were returning from a paddy field where they had been fishing in the tractor when the mishap occurred in which all of them sustained serious injuries.
Following the mishap, they were rushed to Badachana Community Health Centre (CHC) where the attending doctors declared Benga, Utsav, and Duryodhan dead. On the other hand, two others are fighting for their lives.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and took stock of the situation. The cops also seized the bodies of the deceased persons and sent them for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
