Bhubaneswar, March 22: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has achieved a significant milestone in freight performance by achieving the loading target of 275 Million Tonnes (MT) on March 20, 11 days ahead of schedule, said an official release.
According to an ECoR statement, ECoR has loaded 275.6 Million Tonnes of freight up to 20th March 2026, registering a growth of 10.4% over the corresponding period at 249.6 MillionTonnes.
This achievement reflects ECoR’s consistent focus on operational efficiency and excellence in freight transportation, it stated.
Further, the East Coast Railway has surpassed 250 MT of unloading on 21st March 2026, significantly improving upon last year’s unloading figure of 236.5 MT during the same period.
"With these achievements, ECoR has set a new benchmark in both loading and unloading performance, reflecting its strong commitment towards enhancing freight operations and contributing to the overall growth of Indian Railways. This outstanding performance reflects East Coast Railway’s pivotal role in strengthening the nation’s freight economy and supporting industrial growth in its hinterland," it said.
