Kandhamal, Mar 28: In an unfortunate incident, a man allegedly killed his father in inebriated state after the latter reprimanded him for his drinking habits in Phiringia locality of Odisha’s Kandhamal district.
While the deceased has been identified as Dakena Digal, the accused son is Suraj Digal and the incident has been reported from Lamapada village under Phiringia police limits in the district.
As per reports, a heated exchange of words ensued between the father-son duo when Suraj returned home drunk late last night.
Dakena, who had been reprimanding Suraj for his late-night drinking habits, started scolding him which infuriated him. It later took a violent turn when Suraj, in a fit of rage, attacked his father with a stick leading to his death on the spot.
Hearing Dakena’s screams, Suraj’s mother rushed to the scene, only to find her husband dead. Thereafter, she went to the Phiringia police station and filed a complaint against her son.
Based on her complaint, police arrived at the scene and arrested the accused Suraj. The cops also recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
