According to the latest mining updates, confirmed gold deposits have been found in the districts of Deogarh (Adasa-Rampalli), Sundargarh, Nabarangpur, Keonjhar, Angul, and Koraput. These findings come after years of systematic exploration carried out by the Geological Survey and Odisha Mining Authorities.
“This is a significant development for the state. We have been conducting extensive exploration in various regions, and these results place Odisha among the states with vast, untapped gold reserves,” said an official from the state’s mining department.
Alongside the confirmed deposits, exploratory studies are also ongoing in districts like Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Sambalpur, and Boudh, further raising expectations of new discoveries in the future. These findings, if found commercially viable, could significantly boost Odisha’s economy, generate employment, and reduce India’s dependency on gold imports.
Experts have highlighted that the discovery of such large-scale gold reserves could lead to a self-sustaining gold industry in the country, further strengthening the domestic production of the precious metal.
However, officials have also stressed the importance of adopting sustainable mining practices to balance economic growth with ecological preservation. Experts argue that careful planning and regulation will be key to ensuring that mining activities do not lead to environmental degradation.
With these promising discoveries, Odisha could soon play a central role in India’s mineral wealth story, creating new economic opportunities while contributing to the nation’s gold supply chain.
