Sambalpur, August 9: Senior BJP leader and Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday participated in the 'Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra' in Sambalpur ahead of India's 80th Independence Day on August 15.

The event was organised as part of the broader 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, with participants paying tribute to freedom fighters and promoting the message of national unity and patriotism.

The former Union Minister joined the patriotic march along with hundreds of party workers and residents, carrying the national flag and highlighting the spirit of patriotism and national unity.

In a post on ‘X’, Pradhan said, “The tricolor is a symbol of our national pride, self-respect, and unity. Through the 'Tricolor Yatra' in Sambalpur, we paid our homage to the brave hearts. Let us transform the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign into a people's movement and contribute to the creation of 'Developed Odisha' and 'Developed India'.

Today, Tiranga Yatras were held across the country as political leaders and citizens joined marches carrying the Tricolour. The celebrations are also being linked to the commemoration of 150 years of 'Vande Mataram', with activities planned across states during the campaign period.

The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign is a Central Government initiative that encourages citizens to hoist the national flag, the National Flag, at their homes as mark of respect to the freedom fighters.

Launched in 2022 as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the initiative seeks to strengthen the connection of citizens, particularly younger generations, with the national flag and the country's freedom struggle.

The initiative also aims to encourage people to remember and honour the sacrifices of freedom fighters who played a crucial role in India's struggle for independence.
