Anugola, September 9: Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday attended the 16th Rehabilitation and Periphery Development Advisory Committee (RPDAC) meeting of the Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) Project in Anugola. The meeting focused on rehabilitation, welfare measures, and developmental activities in coalfield areas to benefit local communities and ensure sustainable development in the region.
The meeting also focused on developing a “Web Portal” to provide a “One-Step Solution” to address the grievances of the people in the locality.
Dhenkanal MP Rudra Narayn Pani, Talcher MLA Braja Kishore Pradhan, Chhendipada MLA Agasti Behera, district administration and MCL offiicals attended the meeting.
“MCL has been directed to prepare a comprehensive “Master Plan” for the sustainable development of mining areas, proper rehabilitation of displaced persons, and provision of employment and allied facilities. Emphasis was also laid on developing a “Web Portal” to provide a “One-Step Solution” to various grievances; upgrading MCL’s Central Workshop to skill young men and women and establishing a “Centre of Excellence” for the mining sector; and ensuring the effective utilization of CSR funds,” posted Pradhan on ‘X’.
The former Union Minister also highlighted the BJP Government’s commitment to the holistic development pf the SC and ST people.
“The double-engine Government is giving top priority to protect the interests of SC and ST families. Comprehensive measures must be undertaken with public participation to control the increasing pollution and protect the environment in the Angul and Talcher areas,” wrote Pradhan.
The meeting also discussed on developing more forests to compensate the loss of forest cover caused by projects and construction of new roads and railway lines to protect the environment and strengthen the infrastructure in the locality.
