Bhubaneswar, June 7: The Odisha Vigilance has arrested Baikuntha Nath Behera, Assistant Executive Engineer of Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Baliguda, in Kandhamal district for possession of disproportionate assets. He will be forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar court today, said an official release on Sunday.
The development came a day after he was found in possession of disproportionate assets including five multi storeyed buildings of total area over 20,000 Sqft (four palatial buildings in Bhubaneswar, 14 high value plots, over Rs 2.04 crore in cash, 500 gm gold, Rs 45 lakh deposits, which he could not explain satisfactorily.
Further, one more locker being operated in name of his spouse is still to be opened.
The simultaneous search was carried out on Saturday by pressing into service two additional SPs, five DSPs, six inspectors and other supporting staff.
Behera joined Government service on August 16, 1999, as Junior Engineer (Civil) in Nabarangpur district at a monthly salary of Rs 6,000.
On February 12 2026, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Executive Engineer and posted at ITDA, Baliguda, in Kandhamal district. He has continued there so far.
