Odisha: Crime Branch takes over probe into FM College student Soumyashree’s suicide case

Bhubaneswar, July 16: The Odisha Crime Branch has taken charge of the investigation into the tragic suicide of FM College student Soumyashree Bisi, who died after setting herself on fire in a shocking incident that has drawn statewide attention.

Director General of Police (CID-Crime Branch) Vinaytosh Mishra has assigned the case to DSP Iman Kalyan Nayak of the Crime Against Women and Children (CAW & CW) unit in Bhubaneswar. The case, originally registered at Sahadevkhunta police station in Balasore, has officially been transferred to the Crime Branch for further investigation.

As per the official notification issued by the CAW & CW Wing of the Odisha Police, Inspector Panchali Rout will assist DSP Nayak in the investigation.

Under Rule 431(C) of the Odisha Police Manual, DSP Nayak has been granted the authority to act as the Officer-in-Charge of the Sahadevkhunta police station for this probe.
