Bhubaneswar, September 9: Odisha Crime Branch has submitted a charge sheet in the Balasore SDJM court concerning the tragic self-immolation of a student from Fakir Mohan College. The charge sheet, which contains 349 pages, includes testimonies from 120 witnesses.
Initially, the charge sheet has been filed against two of the accused, with plans to file it against the remaining two individuals at a later stage. The case involves serious allegations of harassment and abetment.
Four individuals, including two students, have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The two students are accused of conspiring and encouraging the victim to take the extreme step of self-immolation.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Crime Branch has kept the case open for further investigation.
On July 12, the female student tragically set herself on fire after allegedly being denied justice in a sexual harassment case against the Head of the Department (HoD) of Integrated BEd. Despite receiving treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, she succumbed to 95% burn injuries on the night of July 14.
