Bhubaneswar, October 11: Odisha Congress leaders, led by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Bhakta Charan Das, along with party MLAs and senior functionaries, will participate in the INDIA bloc’s protest march in New Delhi on Monday against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over allegations of “vote chori,” a senior party leader said on Sunday.
Briefing the media, Congress leader Saluja said party leaders from Odisha would leave for the national capital on Sunday night and arrive by Monday morning to take part in the demonstration.
According to Saluja, the protest is being organised by the INDIA bloc under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi to highlight alleged irregularities in the electoral process and raise concerns over the conduct of elections.
Saluja said that Odisha Congress leaders would participate in the demonstration under the guidance of Bhakta Charan Das, accompanied by party MLAs and senior leaders.
The INDIA bloc has scheduled the protest march for Monday, October 12, as part of its campaign over the alleged electoral irregularities. Leaders and representatives of various constituent parties are expected to join the demonstration, along with supporters seeking accountability in the electoral process.
The allegations of “vote chori” are being raised by opposition parties, while the protest is intended to intensify their demand for answers regarding the functioning of the electoral system.
