Bhubaneswar, Ap 28: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday paid homage to Madhusudan Das on his 178th birth anniversary, describing him as a symbol of Odia identity, self-respect, and determination.

The Chief Minister attended a special programme organized at the Keonjhar District Collector’s office, where he offered floral tributes to the statue of Madhusudan Das. Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, MP Ananta Nayak, and Telkoi MLA Fakir Mohan Naik were also present.

Addressing the gathering, Majhi hailed Madhusudan Das as the chief architect of a separate Odisha state and urged people to build a prosperous Odisha by 2036 by following his ideals.

Recalling Madhusudan Das’ historical and emotional connection with Keonjhar, the Chief Minister highlighted his role as a distinguished lawyer during the Keonjhar Praja Movement, where he fought for justice. “I feel privileged to pay tribute to such a leader on this soil,” Majhi said.

Emphasizing the state government’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage, Majhi announced several initiatives, including a dedicated infrastructure package to develop Satyabhamapur, the birthplace of Madhusudan Das, into a major tourist destination.

The Chief Minister further noted efforts to realise Madhusudan Das’ vision of industrialisation by promoting local artisans across Keonjhar and the state. He added that the government aims to carry the legacy and sacrifices of great leaders like Madhusudan Das to every Odia household.

Stressing inclusive development, Majhi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to integrating remote and underdeveloped regions with the mainstream.
