Bhubaneswar, Sept 9: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has embarked on a three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with an aim to attract fresh investments and strengthen economic ties between Odisha and the Gulf nation.
The Odisha delegation, led by the Chief Minister, reached Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. The investment outreach programme will continue from September 9 to 11, featuring high-level meetings, one-to-one discussions with investors and a roadshow in Dubai.
During the first phase of the visit, the Chief Minister is scheduled to hold discussions with leading UAE-based institutions, investors and business leaders, highlighting Odisha’s investment-friendly ecosystem and inviting companies to explore opportunities in the state.
A key focus of the meetings will be the petrochemical and chemical sectors, along with investment opportunities, industrial partnerships, technology cooperation and infrastructure development.
Majhi is also scheduled to meet representatives of International Holding Company (IHC) and its business arms, as well as members of the Indian Business and Professional Group (IBPG). Discussions with the UAE’s Investment Minister and senior investment officials are also on the agenda.
Before the investor meetings, the Chief Minister reviewed preparations for the business and investment engagements after arriving in Abu Dhabi. He stressed the need to convert investment proposals into concrete projects, generate employment and strengthen Odisha as a competitive destination for global businesses.
Ahead of the investment summit, Majhi said Odisha’s industrial development has entered a new phase and that its relationship with the UAE would be an important part of this journey.
He emphasised that the objective is not merely to attract investments but to build long-term partnerships based on trust, technology, value creation and employment generation.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the role of the Odia community living in the UAE, describing them as a bridge between Odisha and the UAE. He stressed the need to ensure continued support, facilities and a conducive living environment for Odias residing in the UAE.
The delegation includes Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Chief Secretary Anu Garg and Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department Hemant Sharma, besides senior officials from the Industries Department and IPICOL.
Majhi received a welcome from UAE government representatives and industry groups upon his arrival. The Indian Ambassador to the UAE also met and welcomed the Chief Minister.
