Odisha CM Majhi discusses with Union Jal Shakti Minister over 'Mahanadi Water Dispute' issue

Bhubaneswar/New Delhi, August 6:  Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday met Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil in New Delhi, raising concerns over the ongoing Mahanadi river water dispute with Chhattisgarh. Majhi urged the Centre to facilitate a fair and amicable resolution to the long-standing issue.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister presented the ‘Vision Odisha 2036 | 2047’ document, outlining the state’s roadmap for long-term growth and sustainable development. He stressed the urgency of resolving the water-sharing conflict to safeguard Odisha’s agricultural and ecological interests.

 Later, Majhi called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed issues related to Centre-State coordination and Odisha’s key developmental initiatives. The Chief Minister underlined the importance of collaborative governance in accelerating growth and improving public welfare.

 In another high-level engagement, Majhi met Union Minister for Heavy Industries, Public Enterprises, and Steel, H. D. Kumaraswamy, to push for the expansion of Odisha’s steel sector. Discussions focused on enhancing the capacity of Rourkela Steel Plant and promoting investment in the state’s industrial infrastructure. The Chief Minister once again shared the ‘Vision Odisha 2036 | 2047’ document with the Minister.
