Bhubaneswar, Dec 27: The tenure of Odisha's Chief Secretary, Manoj Ahuja, has been extended by one year, keeping him in office beyond the original deadline of December 31. Ahuja took over as Chief Secretary on June 30, after Pradeep Jena's term ended, and has played a key role in implementing various government policies.
In the short time since he took charge, Ahuja has focused on bringing the BJP’s campaign promises to life. Under his leadership, the state successfully hosted its first Naval Day and a Directorate General (DG) Conference. He is also involved in organizing the upcoming Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conference in the state.
Ahuja, a 1990-batch IAS officer from the Odisha cadre, took charge during a challenging time. He worked to address issues like bureaucratic inefficiency, reduce tensions between Odia and non-Odia officials, and implement the promises made by the newly-formed BJP government.
He is also focused on improving the image of the Odisha administration.
Known for his vast experience, Ahuja has earned the trust of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, having worked efficiently as Secretary in the Agriculture Ministry.
Political analyst Prasanna Mohanty explained that given the important tasks ahead, the government is relying on Ahuja’s leadership to implement plans and schemes effectively.
