Odisha Cabinet extends free diagnostic & dialysis scheme ‘NIDAAN’ for five more years

Bhubaneswar, May 8: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi led Odisha Cabinet approved a proposal extending the ‘Free Diagnostic and Dialysis Services—NIDAAN’ scheme for an additional five years.

As per reports, the state government will spend Rs 2,459.51 crore over the next five years to implement the scheme.

Under NIDAAN, free pathological tests are being provided at public health facilities, including PHCs, CHCs, District Headquarters Hospitals (DHHs), and Medical College and Hospitals (MCHs).

According to the mandate, patients can access 16 types of diagnostic tests at Sub Centres (SCs), 65 at Primary Health Centres (PHCs), 103 at Community Health Centres (CHCs), 121 at Sub-Divisional Hospitals, 146 at District Headquarters Hospitals (DHHs), and 221 at Medical Colleges and Hospitals (MCHs).

Additionally, MRI and CT scan services will be provided free of cost at select DHHs and MCHs.
