Bhubaneswar, July 21: Odisha BJP Yuva Morcha members staged a protest in Bhubaneswar on Monday following the arrest of Odisha Chhatra Congress president Udit Pradhan over the alleged sexual abuse of a 19-year-old engineering student. The protesters burned effigies of Rahul Gandhi and OPCC president Bhakta Charan Das, accusing the Congress of protecting Pradhan despite his criminal record.
Yuva Morcha president Abhilash Panda slammed the Congress for appointing Pradhan as NSUI state president despite past charges, including sexual harassment and attempt to murder. He accused the party of double standards on women’s safety.
BJP national spokesperson K.K. Sharma also targeted Rahul Gandhi, questioning his silence and demanding action against Pradhan. Sharma further linked NSUI to the recent self-immolation case of a B.Ed student in FM College, urging the Congress to clarify its stance.
