Bhubaneswar, June 28: After a prolonged period of uncertainty, the Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially announced the resumption of its internal election process. The organizational elections, which had been on hold, will now begin on June 29 and are scheduled to conclude by July 1.
This development was confirmed by Pratap Sarangi, the party’s state election officer, who stated that the election process will include the selection of the BJP state president as well as national council members. These elections are part of the BJP’s internal democratic framework, where leadership at various levels is chosen every three years.
The process to elect a successor to the current state president, Manmohan Samal, has now formally begun. Samal, who has been serving as the Odisha BJP president, will be succeeded through this upcoming internal poll, ensuring a smooth and democratic transition of leadership.
To oversee the proceedings, the central election authority of the BJP has appointed Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, a Member of Parliament from Bihar, as the election observer for Odisha. His presence is expected to ensure transparency and fairness in the conduct of the elections.
The resumption of the internal elections is seen as a significant step in strengthening the party’s organizational structure in the state, especially following the recent political shifts and developments in Odisha.
