Bhubaneswar, Sept 30: The Odisha Bandh saw a major protest at Baramunda Bus Stand in Bhubaneswar, where members of the Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) and Nabnirman Yuva Chhatra Sangathan (NYCS) blocked the national highway and allegedly set tyres on fire.

Visuals from Baramunda showed protesters occupying the road, disrupting traffic movement in the area. Police forces were deployed to maintain law and order and manage the traffic situation.

The bandh has been called by NNKS over alleged large-scale errors in government school textbooks. The organisation claimed that more than 1,700 errors were found in newly published textbooks, while NYCS alleged over 2,000 errors in books for Classes 1 to 8.

The organisations have also alleged irregularities in the textbook preparation process and demanded the resignation of Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond.

The state Home Department had directed district administrations to strengthen security at sensitive locations and ensure essential services remain unaffected. In Bhubaneswar, 10 platoons of police force and 15 officers were deployed at designated locations.
