Bhubaneswar, December 7: The Odisha Assembly was adjourned till Monday following chaos and protests over the Adani issue.

The disruptions began during the afternoon session on Saturday, when Congress MLAs once again raised the Adani controversy, accusing the previous BJD government of corruption.

The Congress MLAs allegedly claimed that the previous BJD government had accepted bribes from the Adani Group while it was supplying electricity to Odisha. They voiced their protests with loud slogans from their seats, intensifying the commotion in the house.

In response to the turmoil, Speaker Surama Padhy declared the Assembly adjourned until Monday.

Prior to this, a significant disruption was witnessed in the morning session on Saturday. The unrest followed accusations made by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday, alleging that the previous Naveen Patnaik-led government had sold Assistant Section Officer (ASO) jobs for Rs 30 lakh. The controversy led to a series of protests by BJD lawmakers, who disrupted the proceedings during the Question Hour. BJD MLAs stormed the well of the House and raised slogans, forcing Speaker Padhy to adjourn the session until 11:30 am. When the proceedings resumed, further disruptions led to another adjournment, until 4 pm.
