Bhubaneswar, Sept 24: The Odisha Legislative Assembly was adjourned again on Thursday following continued protests and uproar by the Opposition. The House has been adjourned until 4 pm.
The Monsoon Session of the Assembly began on September 22, with the Opposition raising the issues of MMDR and alleged errors in textbooks from the very first day. Amid protests and sloganeering, the House was adjourned twice on the opening day.
On the second day, the BJD raised the textbook error issue and targeted the government, while the Congress created an uproar over the MMDR issue. The Speaker adjourned the House until 4 pm. Proceedings resumed briefly later in the day but were again disrupted by Opposition protests, following which the House was adjourned until 10:30 am on Thursday.
When the House reconvened on Thursday morning, Opposition members once again created a ruckus. Some members reportedly attempted to move towards the Speaker's podium despite repeated appeals from the Speaker to maintain order.
With the protests continuing, the Speaker was forced to adjourn the House until 4 pm.
The current Monsoon Session has a total of nine working days, with Thursday marking the third day of the session.
